The Simple Playroom

I approached this space with a very easy going, ‘let’s just make something cute and use the empty space well’ attitude. I didn't want anything fancy or over the top. Something fresh that contained all the toys, made playing a fun experience, whilst making me less anxious about mess, was all I was after. Between you and I, I'll probably have to change it into a bedroom at some point, so anything that was cost effective and gets us two years would be great.

I kept everything to a white and neutral tone palette, keeping everything cohesive and tonal makes for a minimal and calm aesthetic - which is an important aesthetic for toy rooms.

I painted the room white dove by Benjamin Moore.

Dark colours tend to make things feel smaller, light and bright walls are more reflective and are the best way to maximise a poorly lit room. White walls enable light to bounce off easier, creating a more light and open space, making it feel more fresh and airy.

All products were purchased through Ikea, Target and H&M home - keeping it cost effective and easy to purchase was key. All wooden toys we collected over time - most are from Melissa and Doug toys and some from amazing savings.
